132 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction a feasibility study on the establishment of a lock system on the river Erne at Clyhore/Belleek on the border between counties Fermanagh and Donegal under the INTERREG programme.
I am advised by the Commissioners of Public Works that they have no proposals at present to undertake a feasibility study on the establishment of a lock system on the river Erne at Clyhore/Belleek on the Border between counties Fermanagh and Donegal. The river Erne between Belleek and the sea has been developed for hydroelectric power and the steep fall renders the development of a suitable navigation unlikely.
No proposal to undertake such a study has been submitted to the Commissioners nor are they aware of any such proposal.
