Vol. 425 No. 8

Written Answers. - Appointment of Remedial Teacher.

Ray Burke

Question:

113 Mr. R. Burke asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need for a remedial teacher to be appointed to St. Catherine's national school, Rush, County Dublin; and if she will have arrangements made for this appointment.

I have received an application for a remedial teacher from the school in question.

I am currently examining the scope for deployment of additional teaching resources to children with special educational needs. The appointment of remedial teachers will form a key element in this consideration. In this connection the Programme for a Partnership Government provides for the recruitment of 500 remedial teachers by September 1996.
