Vol. 426 No. 3

Written Answers. - Financial Services Centre.

Pat Cox

Question:

27 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the progress, if any, which has been made to date in the setting up of companies by the IDA or State commercial bodies in the International Financial Services Centre that will offer support services to non-national financial and insurance companies, as envisaged in the Programme for a Partnership Government 1993-1997.

Consultations have already begun with State commercial bodies which might be seen as having the appropriate capabilities to fulfil such a role for companies setting up in the International Financial Services Centre and a study is being undertaken to examine the viability of such a proposal.

It is, obviously, too early at this stage to say what the likely outcome of such a study might be.
