Vol. 426 No. 3

Written Answers. - Unsightly Caravan.

Tony Gregory

Question:

53 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance if there is any further action the Commissioners of Public Works can take to have the unsightly caravan-type structure removed from the Royal Canal bank at Binn's Bridge, Dublin 7.

The Commissioners of Public Works are acutely aware of the impact the unsightly structure in question has on the Canal Bank at Binn's Bridge, Dorset Street, Dublin 7. However, the structure is in fact located on private property and the Commissioners therefore have no statutory powers to deal with this matter. Despite repeated requests by the Commissioners to the company responsible to have the structure removed, the company has failed to do so. The Commissioners of Public Works have raised the matter directly with the planning authorities with whom the matter rests at present. There is no further action the Commissioners can take.
