Vol. 426 No. 3

Written Answers. - Child Care Facilities.

Richard Bruton

Question:

83 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has for developing child care facilities for working parents and those interested in training opportunities; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The development of child care facilities for working parents and those interested in training opportunities is being considered by the Working Party on Child Care for Working Parents.

The Working Party, set up by the Minister for Labour was asked to devise specific recommendations for the development of child care partnerships between parents, local employers and community groups. It is due to report in the next few weeks.
I will be considering the recommendations of this Working Party as well as those of the Second Commission on the Status of Women on this subject in addressing the commitment in the Programme for a Partnership Government significant expansion of child care facilities.
