170 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment if it is proposed to establish a commission to redraw local authority constituency boundaries before the next local elections; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Elections to county and county borough councils are due to be held in 1996. No consideration has yet been given to the question of redrawing the electoral areas for these authorities. The position in relation to these and other local authorities will, however, be kept under review taking account, in particular, of decisions in relation to subcounty local government structures.
