Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ministerial Powers.

Máirín Quill

Question:

30 Miss Quill asked the Minister for the Environment the statutory powers, if any, which have been devolved to the Minister of State with responsibility for environmental protection; and whether the Minister of State will have a separate budget.

Michael McDowell

Question:

32 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for the Environment the statutory powers, if any, which have been devolved to the Minister of State with responsibility for urban renewal; and whether the Minister of State will have a separate budget.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 30 and 32 together.

I refer to my reply to Questions Nos. 279 and 281 on 10 February 1993. The position in relation to the delegation of statutory powers to the Ministers of State in my Department is unchanged since then. While there are no separate budgets, the responsibilities assigned to the Ministers of State include the making of grants and financial allocations, within the limits of the Department's Estimates, in the areas of responsibility assigned to them.
