Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Wexford Unemployment Statistics.

Ivan Yates

Question:

59 Mr. Yates asked the Taoiseach the comparative figures for the years 1972 and 1992 at any point in those years for the numbers signing on the live register from a parish (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if these are not available, if he will give figures for the nearest divisional area including that parish.

The number of persons on the live register in the Enniscorthy, County Wexford office of the Department of Social Welfare was 603 on 29 December 1972 and 2,528 on 31 December 1992. This is the most detailed area classification of the live register statistics.

A quarterly area of residence analysis of persons on the live register was discontinued with effect from the last quarter of 1988 because of the poor quality of the area coding of addresses. Persons on the live register whose area of residence was Enniscorthy Urban District were distinguished in the former analysis.
