119 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, he proposes to take to ensure the implementation of the recommendations in the Sixth Joint Committee on Commercial State-sponsored Bodies' report on Bord na gCon, with particular reference to the membership of Bord na gCon; and if he intends to appoint a new board in October, 1993.
I am at present reviewing the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958, with a view to making any amendments which are considered necessary. The recent report of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Commercial State-sponsored Bodies, which made recommendations on the running of the greyhound industry, is being examined in the context of that review.
The term of office of the current board of Bord na gCon is due to expire in October 1993. The appointment of a new board will be considered in the context of the review already referred to.
