Vol. 426 No. 6

Written Answers. - Maternity Protection Act, 1981.

Donal Carey

Question:

143 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties (details supplied) being experienced under the Maternity Protection Act, 1981; and if he will be introducing legislation to correct these inequities.

I will arrange for examination of the concerns raised in the details supplied with this question in the forthcoming review of the Maternity Protection Act, 1981. The review will take place during 1993-94 as part of the work of transposition into national law of Council Directive 92/85/EEC concerning pregnant workers.
