Vol. 427 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Appointments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

59 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the names of his new partnership programme manager, economist and lawyer/legal draughtsman; and the rates of remuneration applicable in each case.

As already indicated in reply to previous questions, most recently on 16 February, I propose in my capacity as Minister for Foreign Affairs to appoint Mr. Fergus Finlay as both special adviser and partnership programme manager in the Department of Foreign Affairs. Discussions on the terms and conditions for the appointment are continuing.

In relation to the Office of Tánaiste, I have appointed Mr. Gregory Sparks as partnership programme manager. I will, in due course, be appointing Mr. William Scally as senior policy adviser, and Mr. Finbarr O'Malley as legal adviser/ draughtsman. Discussions on the terms and conditions of these three appointments are continuing. Any costs arising from these appointments will be met within the existing allocation for the Office of Tánaiste.
