Vol. 427 No. 3

Written Answers. - Nursing Examinations.

Avril Doyle

Question:

115 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) in County Waterford will be allowed to sit her final psychiatric nursing examinations again in St. Otteran's Hospital, Waterford having failed them on three occasions.

The Deputy will be aware that An Bord Altranais has statutory responsibility for overseeing nurse training in this country, including the conduct of nursing examinations.

In the case to which the Deputy refers, the person in question is obliged under An Bord Altranais rules to discontinue her training, having failed her final psychiatric nursing examinations on three occasions. However, the option remains open to her to re-commence nurse training by applying for admission to one of the training schools.
