Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - Caherciveen (Kerry) School Transport.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

310 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to provide school bus transport from Carhan, Caherciveen, County Kerry, to national schools in the town of Caherciveen, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The service from the Carhan area, which operated up to the end of the summer term 1989, cannot be re-established by my Department because of an insufficient number of eligible children offering for transport.

As is normal in such situations, my Department has offered alternative grant-aid towards the cost of private transport arrangements to those children who qualify for such aid. One family qualified.
