Vol. 427 No. 7

Written Answers. - Copyright Licensing.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

169 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency is entitled to ensure that all schools have licences to copy copyright material; and the plans, if any, she has to enter into negotiation with the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency in order to ensure that there is a national general licence negotiated between her Department and the agency so that all primary schools come within the law in this matter.

The Irish Copyright Licensing Agency has been in contact with my Department regarding arrangements to protect the interests of rights-holders in the use of copyright material.

A meeting is being arranged with the agency to commence discussions regarding appropriate arrangements.
