Wexford): Details of prosecutions under the Litter Act, 1982 are set in the following table. My Department has not yet completed the compilation of information for 1992.
Litter is one of the most persistent environmental problems and continuing action is needed to prevent and limit it. The Department of the Environment last year provided considerable support for local clean-up activities by organising a mixed media campaign against litter. I will consider the possibility of further support in 1993.
