Vol. 427 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Liam Burke

Question:

188 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in payment of a farm improvement grant for a cattle shed for a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and when payment will issue.

Payment of this grant is delayed due to the temporary assignment of clerical staff from the Farm Development Service Office in Cork to livestock schemes to assist with the significant additional work arising under the Common Agricultural Policy reform measures.

In the light of the extra money provided in the Budget to augment resources available to this Department to deal, inter alia, with the new schemes, I have now made arrangements for the return of the temporarily withdrawn staff to all Farm Development Service Offices with effect from Monday, 15 March 1993. This should allow grant payments to be dealt with in the normal way.
