The working party, under the chairmanship of Dr. Thomas Murphy, Chairman of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, has reported to my Department regarding the question of suitable modes of assessment for the subjects of the Junior Certificate Curriculum. The report is at present under consideration in the Department and discussion will be held with interested parties in regard to the feasibility of introducing school-based assessment, initially, on a pilot basis.
