Vol. 427 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Caretaking and Secretarial Services.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

247 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if she will provide an estimate of the number of primary and post primary schools which will benefit from additional funding being provided in 1993 to expand provision for caretaking and secretarial services.

Additional funds have been made available in the present financial year to enable me to expand, in September 1993, the provision for secretarial and caretaking services which, under the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, were to be undertaken on a phased basis. However, at this stage, I am not in a position to indicate how many posts will be created or how many schools will benefit in this phase of the programme. The details will be worked out in consultation with the interests involved.
