257 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of the criteria in accordance with which she will provide for 50% of the whole time post for careers guidance in post primary schools from September 1993.
Schools in the 350-499 enrolment category qualify for the allocation of 0.5 of a wholetime post for guidance. The allocation is being made over a three year period commencing in 1992-93 on the basis of enrolments, with the larger schools benefiting first.
My Department will determine the cutoff figure which will ensure that two thirds of the schools in the 350-499 enrolment category in each of the three post-primary sectors will qualify for the appropriate allocation for the 1993/94 school year.
