129 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance the number of Japanese cars imported into Ireland for each of the years from 1983 to 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I am advised by the Central Statistics Office that the available information covers the number of new and second-hand Japanese cars registered and licensed for the first time in Ireland. Data are available from 1984 in the case of new cars, and from 1990 in the case of second-hand cars. This information covers only cars that can be classified as Japanese makes, even though such cars need not necessarily have been manufactured in, or exported from Japan.
