Vol. 428 No. 1

Request to Move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.

Before proceeding to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy John Bruton. I now call on Deputy Bruton to state the matter of which he has given me notice.

I seek your permission to move the Adjournment of the Dáil pursuant to Standing Order 30 in order that the Dáil might have an opportunity to recommend arrangements the Government should make for all the parties in Dáil Éireann and all the people in this State to express their sympathy in a formal way, involving as many people as possible, with those bereaved and injured after the Warrington bombing.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 30. Accordingly, I cannot grant leave to move the motion. I understand, however, that the Taoiseach will be referring to the matter shortly.
