Vol. 428 No. 1

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy D. Ahern — the prospect of difficulties in the placement of pupils in second level education in the greater Dundalk area in the coming years; (2) Deputy Byrne — the matter of Raheen national school, County Wexford and the non-inclusion of its refurbishment in the Book of Estimates for 1993; (3) Deputy Bradford — the steps, if any, the Minister for Enterprise and Employment intends to take to secure the future of the 650 jobs in a company (details supplied) in County Cork; (4) Deputy Dukes — if the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry met representatives of a company (details supplied) in May 1992; if so, the details of what transpired at that meeting; and whether that meeting had any connection with this company's current interest in acquiring the State's remaining ordinary shareholding in Greencore plc; (5) Deputy Sheehan — the future of the branch employment office in Dunmanway, County Cork, and the plans made to fill the position of branch employment office manager in that office, which is becoming vacant shortly; (6) Deputy de Valera — the need to update the law on occupiers' liability to allay the genuine and legitimate concerns of many farmers, particularly those in the north Clare area; (7) Deputy Barrett — the recent attacks on Irish trucks carrying fish to the French market; (8) Deputy Shatter — the need for sanction from the Minister for Education to construct Knocklyon community school; (9) Deputy Cox — whether the Government is contemplating an equity investment in Guinness Peat Aviation within the next couple of days, directly by the State or indirectly through a State agency; whether any provision has been made in the Estimates for such an investment; and the conditions, if any, which would attach to such an investment; (10) Deputy Finucane — whether the Minister for the Marine will approve the Foynes harbour development plan for Cohesion Funding as approval is required in order to proceed with the development of the port and to stimulate the creation of extra jobs.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Cox, Dukes and Byrne.
