Question:176 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice if she has had any discussions with Garda authorities in the Cork area in relation to the payment of protection money; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda authorities have informed me that they are not aware of the existence of protection rackets in the Cork area.
Any person with information relating to protection rackets in the Cork area should bring it to the attention of the Garda authorities so that the matter can be fully investigated.
