Question:

197 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment whether an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 2 receives any State funding; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that they are holding some functions in premises that are owned and run by organisations that do not allow access to women members; and if he will pursue this matter in view of a recent event (details supplied).

The organisation to which the Deputy refers is an independent body. The organisation is in receipt of a grant from my Department which, in 1993, will amount to £50,000.

My responsibility in relation to that grant is confined to ensuring that it is properly expended and accounted for. The concern expressed by the Deputy has however been brought to the attention of the organisation concerned.
