Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - Local Government Reorganisation.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

271 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment if, in any forthcoming reorganisation of local government he will restore the Howth, Sutton, Baldoyle area of Howth Ward to the administration of Dublin Corporation should the local community indicate a desire for such a change.

A Bill to establish the new county councils — Fingal, South Dublin, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown—in Dublin in place of the existing county council and Dún Laoghaire Corporation is being prepared and the aim is to have this enacted this year so that the new councils can be established on 1 January 1994. In their formal submissions to me under section 23(4) of the Local Government Act, 1991, on the reorganisation report, which included proposals for other boundary alterations, neither Dublin Corporation, Dublin County Council nor the Fingal area committee made proposals for changes in the areas indicated.
