Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Question:

293 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a cattle headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is a change of ownership of herdnumber pending in this case. My Department is awaiting documentation in connection with that change and when that documentation has been received the question of payment of grants to the new herdowner under 1992 cattle and equines headage scheme, special beef premium scheme and suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk producers will be considered further.

Frank Crowley

Question:

294 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will confirm that all approved cattle headage grant payments have now been issued in view of his recent statement which indicated that all payments would issue within a fortnight; if not, the percentage which has not yet been paid; and the number of grants which are still awaiting payment.

It is estimated that a total of 99 per cent of all payments on foot of June-July 1992 applications due to applicants under the cattle headage and beef cow schemes in the disadvantaged areas, 98.8 per cent of suckler cow scheme applicants and 91.8 per cent of special beef premium scheme applicants have now been paid their grants.

The bulk of the outstanding payments have been rejected at validation stage by computer. The queries on these cases are being resolved and payment will be made as quickly as possible if found to be in order.

The following table sets out the approximate position at this stage.
