Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ewe Premium Quotas.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

377 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to have a sheep quota allocated to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The relevant EC Regulations provide for ewe premium quotas to be based on the number of ewes on which a producer was paid the ewe premium in 1991, provided that the producer also applied for the premium in 1992.

The person named is not entitled to a quota because he did not apply for ewe premium in 1991 or in 1992. However the EC Regulations also provide for the establishment of a national reserve for allocation to certain categories of producers. I will be announcing the criteria for the allocation of this reserve shortly and the application received from the person concerned for an allocation from the reserve quota will then be processed.

Question:

378 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when an additional payment in respect of a ewe premium will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

According to the records of my Department, the person named was paid £404.23 on 11 December 1992 in respect of the rural world element of the 1991 ewe premium. She should notify the Department immediately in writing if she did not receive this payment. The full amount due under the 1992 ewe premium scheme has been paid.
