492 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the number of vocational education committees in which there is an acting chief executive office; the proposals, if any, she has to make these positions permanent; if any agreement has been reached in relation to the way in which these posts will be filled; and if she has made any agreement regarding remuneration for present incumbents who may be unsuccessful.
Eight chief executive officer posts in vocational education committees are filled on an acting capacity at present. I have no plans to authorise the filling of these posts on a permanent basis in view of the proposals for local intermediary education structures contained in the Programme for Government 1993-1997, the forthcoming White Paper on Education, etc. It was agreed that the present incumbents would not lose financially, including superannuation, in the event of any change in their current status under a vocational education committee.
