Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Meath School Appointment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

496 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if a decision will be made for permanent caretakers to be appointed to a school (details supplied) in County Meath; if so, when; and if the school will be on the list for approval in 1993.

Under the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress a phased programme of financial assistance by way of a supplementary grant for the provision of caretaking and clerical services in national schools has been introduced from 1 September 1992.

The initial phase of the programme has targeted schools with enrolments of 500 pupils or over which have not had caretaking and/or clerical assistance already.

It is not possible at this stage to state when the school in question might be assisted at a later phase of this programme.
