Question:495 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she will establish a teaching council; if so, when it is intended to establish this council; and the membership it will have.
Written Answers. - Teaching Council.
The question of establishing a teaching council with functions to include all teachers is being considered at present by a committee representative of all concerned interests.
My Department is awaiting legal opinion on certain issues raised by the committee. The work of the committee has been adjourned pending receipt of this opinion.
It is hoped to resolve these outstanding legal issues so that the work of the committee can recommence.
