Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - CERT Students' Placement.

Liz McManus

Question:

509 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the difficulties being experienced by students who are training with CERT in securing placements in 1993; and her views on whether this failure to place students is putting them in difficulty as regards qualifying.

While some difficulty was experienced by CERT in placing trainees during the winter months, it is expected that all trainees will be placed at Easter and in the summer. In fact, the number of requests received by CERT for Easter placement exceeds the number of trainees available.

Initial inquiries for summer placement appear to be positive at this time and it is anticipated that all trainees will be offered employment.

However, if circumstances should ever arise where trainees are unable to secure work experience, arrangements will be made with the National Tourism Certification Board that this will not affect students' qualifications.
