Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - Student Support Schemes.

John Ellis

Question:

510 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education if she will allow pupils from the Republic, who take A levels in Northern Ireland as their second level course, to be included for third level course grants under the higher education grants scheme.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that a range of improvements to the third level students support schemes was introduced in 1992. These improvements included provision whereby equivalent academic attainment standards for the General Certificate of Education of Northern Ireland were prescribed in the case of candidates who attended second level schools in Northern Ireland.
