Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - Assistance for Irish Nationals.

Nora Owen

Question:

130 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the arrangements, if any, which exists for assistance from the Irish Embassy to Irish Nationals travelling to EC countries who find themselves under attack from such groups as farmers or fishermen, as has happened during the weekend of 13th March 1993.

Such attacks are wholly unacceptable and our Embassies are always ready to provide every assistance to Irish citizens in such circumstances. In relation to the recent incidents referred to by the Deputy, the Irish Embassy has been in contact with the local authorities in the country concerned with the aim of preventing the recurrence of such attacks.
