124 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will investigate the difficulties being experienced by people (details supplied) in a certain age group when applying for positions of employment within the private and public sector.
I would refer the Deputy to the reply from the Minister for Equality and Law Reform to whom he has also addressed this question. In the content of the consideration being given to the matter there, I see no necessity to undertake a separate investigation into the issue.
I should further state that the recruitment policy in the private sector is a matter for employers themselves subject to any relevant Act of the Oireachtas.
I do not have any function with regard to recruitment within the public sector.
