Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Residential Hostel.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

139 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funding in 1993 to the Bantry and district Handicapped Association in County Cork for the building of a residential hostel by the Beara Handicapped Association in the grounds of St. Joseph's Hospital, Castletownbere, County Cork.

My Department's involvement with the voluntary housing scheme relates primarily to the provision, within the allocation available in the Public Capital Programme, of funds for individual projects. The administration of the scheme, and the certification that particular projects comply with the terms of the scheme, are the responsibility of the local authority, in this instance Cork County Council. A formal application for the funding of this project has not been received from the council.
