Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Salmon Drift Net Fishermen.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

164 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine if he has received any requests from representatives of salmon drift net fishermen for a meeting; and if he intends meeting them to discuss the rules and regulations governing drift net salmon fishing.

A number of requests from representatives of salmon drift net fishermen for meetings have been received in the Department of the Marine and are being considered by my colleague, Deputy Gerry O'Sullivan, Minister of State, who has responsibility for inland fisheries matters including salmon.

It is hoped that meetings can be arranged as soon as possible to discuss this important issue.
