Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Child Abuse Prevention Programme.

Chris Flood

Question:

222 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Health if he intends to develop a stay-safe programme for pre-school children as has been requested by the members of the child abuse prevention programme and by the Irish Pre-School Play Groups Association.

The child abuse prevention programme referred to by the Deputy was specifically designed for use in primary schools. It is currently being implemented in primary schools around the country with the active support of my Department, the Department of Education and the health boards. When this process has been successfully completed, the question of developing a similar programme for the pre-school sector will be considered.
