Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Work Services for Homeless.

Chris Flood

Question:

221 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Health if he intends to provide an out of hours social work service for the young homeless in all health board areas similar to the service which currently exists in the Eastern Health Board area.

Under the Child Care Act, responsibility for providing assistance to homeless children up to the age of 18 years rests with the health boards. Circumstances vary considerably within the different health boards and the operational arrangements in each area, including the provision of out of hours social work services, are a matter for the relevant health board.
