Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Fenit Harbour, County Kerry.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

36 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Marine if he has any proposals for investment to improve facilities at Fenit Pier, County Kerry; and if he will have it included in any future investment programmes.

Tralee and Fenit Pier and Harbour Commissioners have submitted two separate proposals for developments at Fenit Harbour for consideration for post-1993 EC fund aid. The proposals are in respect of developments to cater for commercial and fishing traffic at the port at a total estimated cost of £2.6 million. These proposals are being evaluated in the Department at present and the evaluation process will be completed at the earliest possible date.

I am pleased to advice the Deputy that a State grant allocation as follows has been approved for Fenit Harbour in 1993: (a) £10,000 towards the continuation of the FÁS scheme, and (b) 75 per cent of the cost of essential maintenance dredging at the commercial berths subject to a maximum State grant of £40,000.
