Question:41 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Marine if he will list the harbours in County Mayo that are under consideration for EC funding from structural and cohesion funds.
Written Answers. - EC Funding of County Mayo Harbours.
The Department of the Marine is currently drawing up an integrated and strategic development programme for commercial harbours from the many submissions received from harbour authorities and private interests throughout the country. In addition, the fishery harbour development plan for 1994 to 1997 is being prepared within the Department.
In relation to commercial harbours, no proposals were received from either of the harbour authorities in County Mayo — Westport Harbour Commissioners and River Moy Commissioners. A number of fishery harbours in County Mayo are being examined for possible inclusion in the fishery harbour development plan. However, pending finalisation of the plan and clarification of the total funding available, I am not in a position, at this point in time, to say which harbours, if any, will be included.
