Vol. 429 No. 4

Written Answers. - Funding for Additional Classrooms.

John Connor

Question:

148 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Education if it is proposed to provide funding for the construction of four new classrooms at St. Attracta's amalgamated national school in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this amalgamation took place last September and has since had to operate on a split campus and, that at the time of the agreement of the amalgamation, this funding to provide new classrooms was promised.

I am aware that the former boys and girls school in Balaghaderreen amalgamated with effect from last September and is operating on a split campus. My Department is examining the situation with a view to determining the accommodation needs of the school. The next step would be to begin the planning process. After that stage the question of the funding of an extension would be considered in the light of the availability of finance and having regard to other commitments and priorities.

Éamon Ó Cuív

Question:

149 D'fhiafraigh Éamon Ó Cuív den Aire Oideachais cén uair a dhéanfaidh sí cinneadh i dtaobh deontaisí tríú leibhéal do scoláirí a bhfuair a dtuismitheoirí ria-ráistí pá sa mbliain cánach ioncaim ar a bhfuil an scrúdú maoine bunaithe.

Tá ceist seo na riaráistí pá agus an scrúdú maoine do dheontais ardoideachais fós faoi bhreithniú ag mo Roinnse, agus tá súil agam go ndéanfar cinneadh ina leith go luath.

Coimeádfaidh mé an Teachta ar an eolas.
