Vol. 429 No. 4

Written Answers. - Compulsory Division of Commonages.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

26 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the present position regarding compulsory division of commonages; and whether consideration is being given to introducing any changes.

At present the Land Commission is awaiting the result of an appeal to an Bord Pleanála regarding the compulsory division of a commonage in County Mayo. It is expected that this will be available very shortly.

The commonage division in question has been the subject of an appeal to the High Court and it will be referred back to the Court when the matters before An Bord Pleanála have been resolved.

On receipt of a final judgment from the High Court the Land Commission will review the use of compulsory division procedures.
