Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Felling Grants.

Michael Creed

Question:

221 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if there are any grants available within his Department for the felling of trees due to disease and the replanting of new trees.

Under an EC assisted Operational Programme my Department administers a grant scheme for the reconstitution of woodland which has suffered damage as a result of disease. The grant is payable towards the cost of work carried out in the re-establishment of the damaged woodland. Grants of up to 85 per cent of costs, subject to a limit of £1,100 per hectare, are payable for re-establishing conifers and £2,000 per hectare for broadleaves.
