Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Transport Grant.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

285 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Health if he will provide a grant to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo, who was hospitalised, to cover the expenditure incurred by her in the provision of private transport which was in excess of the grant received from the Western Health Board.

The position is that the Western Health Board contributes towards the cost of private transport for patients to hospital in certain circumstances. The amount of the contribution can vary depending on each individual case but the maximum contribution which the board makes is £10 per vouched journey.

In this case, I understand that the patient received the maximum contribution available from the Western Health Board in respect of the journeys undertaken.
