Written Answers. - Funding for Mentally Handicapped.

Question:

307 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Health if he will give a breakdown of the allocations to each health board and other groups from the £8 million provided in the 1993 Budget for services for the mentally handicapped in 1993; and the sums provided in this regard to the health boards and other groups in 1992.

Details of the allocation of the additional funding available for the development of services for people with mental handicap in 1993 was given to the Deputy in my reply to his parliamentary question on 7 April last.

In 1992 an additional £6 million (£5 million revenue and £1 million capital) was made available for the development of services to persons with a mental handicap, £3 million was made available as a special budget measure and a further £3 million was made available from within the Health Estimates. The allocation to each of the eight health board areas was as follows:
