Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Temple Street (Dublin) Children's Hospital.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

309 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if, in relation to Temple Street Children's Hospital, Dublin 1, and recent correspondence (details supplied), he will make a statement clarifying the factual position.

The matter in question relates to the arrangements for providing medical cover in the Department of Paediatric Ophthalmology in the Children's Hospital, Temple Street.

Two of the staff have expressed their concerns to me in the matter. I have communicated those concerns to the hospital management.

While I share the staff's concern to ensure a reliable and efficient service to the public, I must point out that it is a matter for the hospital authorities to manage the Department to the best of their ability within available resources and having regard to the competing demands of all departments within the hospital.
