Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Central Statistics Office Staff.

Peter Barry

Question:

52 Mr. Barry asked the Taoiseach when the staff of the Central Statistics Office will be moving to Cork; the number that have applied and have agreed to the transfer; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The target date for the commencement of the transfer of approximately 400 staff to the Central Statistic Office in Cork is January 1994.

At present, 87 of the existing Central Statistics Office staff in Dublin have indicated that they wish to transfer to Cork. An additional 157 staff from other Government Departments and offices have also volunteered to relocate.
The remaining Central Statistics Office posts in Cork will be filled by interdepartmental competitions, for which applicants were invited on 8 April 1993, and by open competitions for recruitment grades if necessary.
