Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Outstanding Fóir Teoranta Loans/Investments.

Peter Barry

Question:

80 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Finance the amount that has been recovered by the Industrial Credit Corporation of the £12.2 million of loans and investments outstanding to Fóir Teoranta at the time of its wind-up in April 1991; who has responsibility for the collection of the outstanding loans and investments of Fóir Teoranta; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Of the total of £12.2 million of loans and investments which were outstanding at the dissolution of Fóir Teoranta on 2 April 1991 £2.3 million had been recovered up to 31 March 1993 in respect of the principal amount of such loans and investments. A further amount of £1.1 million was also recovered in respect of interest and other amounts due. Under the terms of the Fóir Teoranta (Dissolution) Act 1990 ICC Bank is responsible for the recovery of amounts due to Fóir Teoranta and for the transfer of any sums recovered to the Minister for Finance.
