Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Proposed Cork Tax Information Office.

Peter Barry

Question:

79 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he has to open a tax information office in Cork similar to the office opened in Áras Brugha, Dublin.

I have been informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they are in the process of upgrading facilities for dealing with personal callers in major centres throughout the country. Upgraded facilities have already been provided in a number of locations such as Limerick, Tralee, Kilkenny and Castlebar.

Plans for the installation of a modern Information Office in a central location in Cork are well advanced. The commissioners are in negotiation with other public service occupants of the building with a view to the provision of a suitable block of space. It is anticipated that these negotiations will be brought to a successful conclusion shortly. Arrangements will then be made to carry out the necessary physical alterations.
