Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Deenihan — the crisis facing 300 farmers because of the failure to reach agreement with the ESB regarding the funding of the ESB-Government sub-sidised Farm Electrification Scheme; Deputy Sheehan — the proposed closure of Dunmanus national school, Goleen, County Cork, without consultation with the board of management or the parents of the pupils concerned; the reason the Minister for Education did not give consideration to the amalgamation of this school with Goleen national school which is in the same catchment area; and whether she is now prepared to offer free transport to Goleen national school to the pupils concerned; Deputy Upton — the need for appropriate educational facilities for disruptive students (details supplied) in the Dublin 8 area who do not attend any school despite the fact that they are aged approximately ten years; Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny)— the discrimination against staff working at St. Patrick's Cheshire Home, Tullow, County Carlow, who are doing similar work to their counterparts in the health board but who are not in receipt of health board pay rates; Deputy Allen — the situation in Cork city where a patient (details supplied) is being forced to wait until 2 June for a catscan X-ray even though his consultant requested one for him on 29 March; and if the Minister will accept that this is an unacceptable situation; Deputy Finucane — if, in view of the urgent necessity for a group water scheme at The Hill, Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, the Minister for the Environment will indicate when this project will be approved and if he will make a statement on the matter; Deputy P. Gallagher — the possibility of permitting the supply of multi-channel TV via the MMDS system to Tullamore, County Offaly, in the light of the severe difficulties experienced by customers of the existing cable system; Deputy Ó Cuív — if the Minister for Education will provide money for the modification of buses bringing children to Scoil Caitriona, Renmore, Galway, so that there would be easy access for children in wheelchairs; Deputy Boylan — the up to date situation in relation to Cavan swimming pool; and the reason this development has not yet been sanctioned; Deputy Mulvihill — the necessity for an early commencement of the Whitegate sewage scheme in order to eliminate the pollution of the Whitegate area of Cork harbour; Deputy O'Leary — whether school transport to pupils attending Clonkeen national school in the parish of Glen-flesk, Killarney, will be restored as a matter of urgency having regard to the dangerous national primary road on both sides of the school and also to the fact that many of the pupils are residing three miles from the school; Deputy Connaughton — whether, in view of a recent occurrence at the University College Hospital, Galway, when part of the ceiling of an operating theatre collapsed just after a very serious operation was carried out on a patient, the Minister for Health will outline the reason the health service is so underfunded; Deputy de Valera — given the crisis in the Mid-Western Health Board area, that the Minister for Health immediately establish the mentally handicapped as a priority within his Department by committing further funds now for the immediate and urgent provision of residential care, sheltered workshops and respite care; Deputy J. Higgins — the need for the Minister for Health to make the necessary funds available to the Western Health Board-Western Care Association to prevent the withdrawal of crisis relief for the parents of an autistic child (details supplied) in County Mayo.

I have selected the following Deputies in respect of the Adjournment debates: Deputies P. Gallagher, Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny), Allen and Connaughton.
